Paul A. Rogers, Ph.D.
As an art historian, my work is grounded in a commitment to advancing the insight, meaning, and value of art in people’s lives. I am furthering this mission through Black Art Thinks, a discussion platform dedicated to activating public dialogue about the art of the African diaspora.
I have held senior leadership roles in arts and humanities institutions across the United States, including Director of Education and Engagement at the Phoenix Art Museum; Curator of Public Programs and Education at the Museum of Art and Design (MOAD) in Miami; and Director of Content and Public Programming, as well as Director of the Center for Visual Culture, at the International Center of Photography (ICP) in New York.
My academic experience includes teaching appointments at UC Berkeley’s Graduate School of Education and Emory University’s Department of African American Studies, and Assistant Professor of Art History at the University of Chicago.
I completed the Museum Leadership Institute at Claremont Graduate University, and hold a Ph.D. in the History of Art from Yale University and a BA in Art History from the University of California, Davis.
